Why I quit my job to become a travel blogger!:
HUGE life update…I QUIT MY JOB TO PURSUE MY PASSION AS A FULL TIME TRAVEL BLOGGER! Literally smiling uncontrollably as I type this. I’ve been keeping this secret for awhile now, and it feels so great to finally get to share this exciting news with you all. You’re probably wondering what’s next (don’t worry I’ll get there), but let’s first talk about why!
I’m not sure if you guys even know what I do for a living (I haven’t been great at sharing that much about my personal life…sorry), but I am an account executive for a company that manufactures goods for a variety of big retailers. I’ve worked there for about three and a half years now and although it’s had its ups and downs, it’s honestly been a really great learning experience.
My job has given me the opportunity to travel to China four different times, which is something that I never really thought I would actually do in my life, and I’ve met a lot of great people along the way. Overall, not a bad gig.
Now let’s fast forward to when covid hit. I think we can all agree that working from home was da bomb! I got to work from home for about four months and it was honestly the best. I felt so much more rested, was a lot more motivated (to work and also workout), and just in general felt happier. I know covid was the worst thing to ever happen, but my husband and I actually kind of enjoyed quarantine.
When I was told I had to start going back into the office I was devastated. Dramatic…I know! I dreaded going into work every day, felt completely depleted after work, and let’s just say the sunday scaries were on another level.
I really started to resent my job and honestly just felt like I was starting to turn into a miserable person. If anything good came out of covid, it definitely made me realize that I don’t want to be chained to a desk every day and need more flexibility then a 9-5.
Now that I explained the “why”, let’s talk about what’s next, which is the part I’m most excited to share!

What's next?:
Since college and over the course of my career, I’ve held a variety of jobs that I’ve stayed at for a few years at a time. When I started to become unhappy or felt like it was getting to the point of being unbearable, I was on the hunt for a new job again.
Luckily, every position I’ve held has led me to upward mobility in my career (so I feel like I’ve made the right moves), but hopping from an office job to another office job is clearly not the long term solution to truly being happy (at least not in my book).
Meeting my husband Charles was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to me. He gave me a whole new perspective on life and really helped me to start thinking outside of the box. He made me realize what I truly want out of life, which is to travel the world and live on my own terms.
He was also the person who actually came up with the whole idea of TRAVEL MEETS STYLE and then I ran with it. Charles, if you are reading this (which you better be bc you are my husband hehe) then I hope you know how grateful I am. You changed my entire world in the best possible way and I wouldn’t be where I am today without you.
Ok enough of that sappy shit! What I’m trying to tell you is that we are going to spend the next year TRAVELING and I finally get to pursue my dream as a TRAVEL BLOGGER!
Charles and I have always talked about doing something like this and since our lease is up in September, we felt like the stars kind of just aligned and decided to go for it! It’s a huge and scary leap, but I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we are!

The plan:
This major life decision of course couldn’t have happened without a TON of planning. Again, Charles and I have always thought about doing something like this, but we really only started seriously talking about this whole idea at the beginning of this year.
As I mentioned above, our lease is up in September so we already had the timing figured out, but we weren’t really sure where we wanted to go or what we wanted to do.
I won’t bore you with all of the details, but let’s just say that it took months of research to plan our destinations and figure out where we were staying. In a nutshell, THE PLAN is to road trip up the east coast of the United States for six months, and then live in Europe for a few months next year (fingers crossed!).
So why the east coast? When we started planning this trip I knew I wanted to go somewhere where I could truly experience Fall. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and have never had the opportunity to live through actual seasons (it’s basically summer year round here).
I’ve also always been intrigued by New England, so we figured why not road trip there and hit a bunch of other places along the way. Brilliant right?!
So you’re probably wondering…what does this mean for travel meets style?

The future of Travel Meets Style:
I am happy to announce that I will finally be able to pursue my passion as a travel blogger FULL TIME, and cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to share this adventure with you guys.
I started travel meets style about two years and although I’ve come such a long way and made a lot of progress, my blog has gone in a different direction then I initially intended and it’s missing a key factor…TRAVEL!
I am thrilled to finally be able to incorporate the travel part of travel meets style into my blog. Fashion will of course continue to be a huge part of of my blog because I love it so much, but I think it’s time to add a little more value and deliver content that is a lot more meaningful. As much as I love clothes and shoes, I would much rather invest in experiences and memories. What about you?!
So what can you expect in the months to come?
Charles, Melvin, and I embark on our road trip adventure in the beginning of September, and as I mentioned above will be hitting a ton of different spots along the coast.
Our trip is going to be very budget friendly (remember, yo girl quit her job), so you’re likely not going to catch us staying at any luxurious hotels or dining at that many fancy restaurants. I plan to share EVERYTHING with you…good and bad, what worked or didn’t work. I promise to be very transparent and take you along every step of the way!
What do you want to see while we’re road tripping? Places to eat? Things to do? What to wear? Drop your comments below!
I can’t even begin to thank you guys enough for following along and for all of the support over the past two years. I hope you are just as excited as I am for what the future holds for travel meets style. I promise, it’s going to be so much fun! Thanks again for following along and I hope I continue to see you down the road! (hehe see what I did there) BON VOYAGE!
