I am one lucky lady! My friends threw me the absolute best bachelorette party in Costa Rica and I’m counting down the days until I get to go back again! If I could describe Costa Rica in one word it would be…PARADISE!
If you enjoy swim up bars, clear blue water, the ocean breeze, and drinking tropical cocktails at the pool, than Costa Rica is the place for you. We seriously had the best time, so I thought I would share all of the deets from our trip with you, just in case you are looking for your next vacation destination!
My bachelorette party in Costa Rica!

Costa Rica resorts:
I’m not going to lie, I got mixed reviews on Costa Rica. Everyone told me how beautiful it was, but I also heard that it wasn’t safe, which was certainly something we considered when looking for Costa Rica resorts. We stayed about an hour and a half from the San Jose airport in a gated community in Los Suenos. Let me just tell you…this place was the total package!
First, the community includes the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort (which was amazing), but also has a ton of private housing and condos. We stayed in a three bedroom three bathroom condo that was really clean, comfortable, and perfectly decorated to reflect the tropical environment! There was plenty of room for the 7 of us (having 3 bathrooms was a plus), and we also had a kitchen, so we didn’t have to eat all of our meals out! Definitely the ideal place to stay if you have a large group or family.
Let’s talk amenities…Our condo was located in a gated community of a larger gated community and had its own private pool, however we also got access to the beach club, which is where we spent most of our time! The beach club has a huge pool, beach access, a swim up bar, hot tub, restaurant, and tons of seating. Need I say more?! Also included with our condo was a golf cart, which made it so much easier to navigate around the community (it’s quite big!). Note: Make sure to unplug the golf cart before driving away lol. (Learned this the hard way.)
The community also includes the Marina Village, which has tons of restaurants, bars, coffee spots, shops, a grocery store, etc. It basically has everything you could possibly need for your entire vacation, which is super convenient (you never need to leave!). There is also a place within the community to book excursions-more to come on that!

Restaurants in Costa Rica:
Between the Marriott Resort and the Los Suenos Marina Village, there are quite a few different restaurants/cuisines to dine at. Something that is also really great about the Marina Village is that they will deliver for a small fee. Below are a few places we ate at that were quite tasty:
LUNCH REC: I would definitely go to hook up for lunch. It overlooks the marina and has the BEST view! They also have a ton of different food options-anything from pizza, to burgers, to seafood-you can find it all here! I got the fish tacos and they were delicious! They also have happy hour EVERYDAY from 4-6 and feature weekly food specials. This is a really great place for brunch as well!
DINNER REC: We had food delivered from Bambu, which is sushi and asian cuisine, and it was soooo good! We didn’t try any of the sushi, but we ordered quite a few of the large plates and they were all super tasty. Definitely make sure to try the ho fun salmon, sweet and sour chicken, and nasi goreng (fried rice). Something else to note is that all of the restaurants in the Marina Village are relatively affordable!
MARRIOTT REC: My sister and I went to Zoe, which is Mediterranean cuisine, and it was such a fun experience! The restaurant overlooks the beach (you can even eat at a table in the sand), and has excellent service. This is a little bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it! They have some really great pasta and seafood options, and had the best dessert. Would definitely be a great date night option around sunset!
COFFEE: There’s only one coffee shop in the Marina Village, but I’m not lying when I say that it’s a good one! Not only do they have a ton of specialty coffees, but they have both breakfast and lunch options, offer a ton of different desserts (including gelato), and have cocktails. This is definitely a great place to relax and unwind!

Things to do in Costa Rica:
COSTACAT CRUISES: This was probably my favorite activity of the whole trip! We took a catamaran over to Tortuga Island (which was beautiful!), and spent most of the day relaxing on the beach, going on crazy banana boat rides, and enjoying tropical cocktails with the best view! Lunch and select cocktails were included, and let me just tell you that the customer service was AMAZING-as in drinks were brought out to us in the ocean amazing! There were other activities to enjoy on the island like snorkeling and hiking, and the catamaran ride itself was such so much fun! Lets just say that the top deck makes for a great dance floor!
POOL/BEACH DAY: As said above, the community we stayed in is home to the beach club (see above for amenities), as well as the Marriott Resort. Technically you are supposed to purchase a day pass to enjoy the Marriott accommodations, but my sister and I walked right in and spent the whole day swimming and hanging at the pool bar. The Marriott has one giant continuous pool (similar to a lazy river), so it was a lot of fun! Both the beach club and the Marriott are also right on the beach, however it was pretty muddy so just beware! Hopefully it’s in better condition if you choose to vacation there!
JACO: We had planned on going to Jaco for the day to bar hop, but we ended up going for dinner one night instead. Note: Jaco is 20 mins away so if you need transportation, I would recommend paying to take the Marriott shuttle instead of trying to find an uber. If you google Jaco you might see that it gets “sketchy” at night. The area I was in definitely didn’t feel that way, but make wise choices and stay with your group just to be safe! LOL! Linking the restaurant that we went to below (was really good), as well as another great website with things to do in Jaco!
What to pack for Costa Rica:

You’re going to be living in a swimsuit most days, but no matter where you go I would definitely keep it casuall! Tropical apparel is also preferred! 🙂 Below are some of the things I brought with me on my trip. Definitely make sure to pack swimsuits, coverups, a few sundresses, sandals, and plenty of sunscreen!
