Why you should visit Salt Lake City!
If you haven’t visited Salt Lake City during the holidays yet, then this is your sign to add it to your bucket list ASAP! My husband and I are here for a few months visiting family, and let me just tell you that there’s nothing quite like waking up in a winter wonderland surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains. Am I right?!

A little history...
Salt Lake City is the largest metropolitan area in Utah and is bordered by the Great Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains. It is a thriving hub of business, culture, and hospitality, and within proximity to an endless supply of outdoor recreation.
Since the 2002 Olympic Games, Salt Lake has become a popular tourist destination and is said as having the “Greatest snow on earth.” Utah is home to many world-class ski resorts, several national parks, and is known primarily as being the religious center for the mormons.
We’ve been here for a few weeks now and between the snow, skiing, holiday festivities, and endless amount of places to explore, we are already having the best time! Now that I’ve convinced you why you should visit Utah, let’s talk about where you should stay! Sharing one of the best hotels in Utah, Kimpton Hotel Monaco.
Best hotels in Utah: Kimpton Hotel Monaco

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Downtown Salt Lake City and all I have to say is WOW! Between the bold and playful aesthetic, beautifully furnished luxury rooms, endless list of amenities, and breathtaking views of the city, we had the absolute best stay and I can’t recommend this hotel enough. No wonder it’s one of the best hotels in Utah!
Did I also mention that Hotel Monaco is right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance to so many great restaurants and bars?!

Another thing I love about Hotel Monaco is that it comes with a past! The site of this hotel has been around since the 1860’s and lived as several other hotels and banks until Hotel Monaco was established in 1999. Some of the elements of the hotel’s history can still be found through the decor and architecture, like the hotel’s restaurant Bambara that was once an old bank lobby!
Now that you know a little more about what makes this hotel so unique, let me take you through some of the other great features that just might make you want to book your stay ASAP.
Sharing a tour of the room we stayed in, the amenities we were able to enjoy like the Miracle pop up bar, and some of the other places we went to that are nearby below!
Accommodations:

Kimpton Hotel Monaco boasts 225 hotel rooms and suites beautifully decorated with modern amenities, diverse patterns, and playful details that will literally have you saying WOW as soon as you walk through the door. Whether you’re staying in a basic guest room or living the suite life, every room is the pinnacle of style and comfort and will make you feel right at home.
We were given the opportunity to stay in a King suite on the 10th floor that came equipped with a small sofa bed (if needed), work station, large corner windows, and the COMFIEST bed I think I’ve ever slept in.
Our room was so incredibly cozy (especially after you put on a Hotel Monaco robe), we had amazing views of the mountains AND Downtown Salt Lake decked out in Christmas lights, and the customer service was impeccable.

Amenities:

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, Kimpton Hotel Monaco has an endless list of amenities to ensure you have the best possible stay! In addition to the hotel bar and restaurant that I will discuss in further detail below, there is a fitness center, in room spa, stylish meeting and event spaces, complimentary wifi and morning coffee, bike and scooter rentals available upon request, AND it’s pet friendly. I mean, what more do you need?!
The Vault:

I was so excited to find out that Hotel Monaco’s bar, The Vault is currently a Christmas themed pop up bar! The Vault was decked out in fun holiday decor, the servers were wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, Christmas movies were playing in the background, and their signature holiday drinks were served in Christmas themed mugs. Is it just me or do cocktails taste just a little bit better in a Santa pants mug?!
Bambara:

If you’re looking for a good meal after a long day of work or celebrating a special occasion with loved ones, Bambara is the perfect place to go for savvy service, fun vibes, and good food.
We decided not to do dinner at Bambara because we wanted to explore the surrounding area instead, but we did order a charcuterie board at the Vault that came from Bambara and it was so yums! Their dinner menu looks amazing too so we will definitely be going back!
Location:

Location is a top priority when I’m figuring out where to stay. If I’m able to park the car for good and navigate the city mostly by foot, I consider that a huge win! As mentioned, Kimpton Hotel Monaco is within proximity to SO many great restaurants, bars, and other attractions. It’s also right near the trax light rail in case you need to go somewhere and don’t feel like driving!

Hotel Monaco is also only a short drive to some of Utah’s best ski resorts and Park City, only 15-20 minutes from the airport, and walking distance to some of their top attractions like City Creek Center, the Convention Center, and Temple Square.
We walked down the street to Whiskey Street for dinner and although it was extremely busy (would highly recommend making a reservation), it was good vibes and had great food! London Belle is also a great spot to stop for after dinner drinks and has music later in the evening.
If you’re looking for some other good recommendations for dinner and drinks, they can be found here and here.

Overall, we had such an amazing stay at Kimpton Hotel Monaco and I honestly cannot say enough great things about it! If you are interested in booking this hotel, you can do so below! Thanks for reading!
