How to get around Provincetown
Provincetown is relatively small, so getting around is quite manageable on foot. Many of P-Town’s attractions, shops, and restaurants are all within walking distance on Commercial Street, so there’s really no need to even have a car.ย
I should also mention that parking is pretty limited in P-Town, especially during peak season, so I would only recommend bringing a car if you absolutely need it. If you plan to drive over, click here for guidelines on parking in Provincetown, as the regulations are a little confusing.ย ย
Additionally, biking is a popular form of transportation in Provincetown (click here for bike rentals), and as always, rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are always available.ย
Best time to visit Provincetown
Summer is the most popular time to visit. The warm Provincetown weather attracts fellow beach lovers, and the town comes alive with events, festivals, and a bustling atmosphere. This also happens to be peak tourist season, so keep in mind that attractions might be more crowded, and prices may be higher.ย
I particularly loved visiting in the Fall, as there were fewer crowds and pleasant weather, and most shops & restaurants were still open. The town was also decked out in Fall and Halloween decor, which made it especially fun!
Winter is Provincetown’s off-season, meaning fewer tourists and a quieter atmosphere. However, some businesses may have reduced hours or be closed. Spring is a transitional season in P-Town, but it is not a bad time to visit, as many businesses start to reopen after the winter break. This allows you to beat the summer rush and is also a great time for a Provincetown whale watch!
