It’s been a minute since I’ve posted a HOW TO, so I figured it was time! Ever since covid happened and we were ordered to #stayathome, I decided that instead of rotting my brain with TV, I would start coming up with creative ways to reinvent outfits with things I already own.
I’ve actually had a lot of fun doing it (and it’s helped to curb my shopping addiction), so I decided to turn it into a regular thing. I think we could all use a little help getting creative with our closet right?!
If you’ve been following me for a little while, then you know that I LOVE dresses! I especially love dresses that you can repurpose and style differently for multiple occasions.
As a travel blogger, I’m also always trying to be as efficient as possible when I pack which means coming up with outfits that can be mixed and matched. Hopefully this will prevent overpacking, which is something I struggle with!
With that said, I thought I’d share how to style a dress five different ways. You can use ANY casual dress in your closet to recreate all of these looks. It doesn’t have to be this specific one!
Also, the below dress pictured is old (I got it from Target awhile back) so I’m linking a similar option below if you want to check it out.

OUTFIT 1: Starting on the left, this outfit could not be any more perfect for summer and it was SO easy to put together! Any button up you have in your closet will work perfectly to recreate this look. You can either tie it in the front like I have it, or you can wear it open if you want a little extra coverage. Pair this with sandals and your fave straw hat, and you’ve got the cutest casual outfit for the weekends!
OUTFIT 2: Next up is the cutest date night look! I probably never would have thought to pair this dress with a leather jacket, but I really like the way this outfit turned out. I love how a leather jacket instantly gives EVERYTHING an edgy look. Pair with some heels and a cute crossbody, and you’ve got the perfect outfit for date night or a girls night out!
OUTFIT 3: I think the middle look might actually be my favorite of them all. Definitely giving me Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard vibes! I just picked up this white blazer and it’s honestly one of my best Amazon finds yet. Fits amazing, the quality is on point, and it’s under $40. I also really love the gold buttons! Add some heels and you’ve got the perfect outfit for the office!
OUTFIT 4: Next up is the perfect travel look! This is what I would wear during the day for exploring or any kind of activity that involves lots of walking. Any graphic tee you already own will work perfectly to recreate this look! All you have to do is knot it in the front and you’re good to go. Paired this outfit with my favorite Adidas shoes and Fjallraven Kanken mini backpack!
OUTFIT 5: All you need for the last look is a good ole jean jacket! If you don’t already own one, that is one thing that I would definitely recommend buying. Mine is from American Eagle and I wear it ALL the time! Pair with a straw purse and some sandals, and you have the cutest (and comfiest) outfit for the weekend.
