Things to know before you go

Where is Stuart Florida?
Stuart is located on the east coast of the state in Martin County and is conveniently accessible via I-95. It’s nestled along the St. Lucie River, which flows into the Indian River Lagoon and is part of Florida’s Treasure Coast, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. It’s also relatively close to the below other popular coastal towns in Florida.
- Stuart to West Palm Beach >>> 40 miles
- Stuart to Fort Lauderdale >>> 85 miles
- Stuart Florida to Miami >>> 100 miles
How to get to Stuart Florida
There are many flights to Stuart Florida available at several major airports nearby! Palm Beach International (PBI), about 40 miles South, is the nearest major Stuart Florida airport. Other airports within a reasonable distance include Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA). Orlando International Airport (150 miles Northwest) is another good option if you’re planning on going to Disney too!
Depending on where you’re coming from, Stuart is also easily accessible by car. If you’re coming from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, it’s a straight shot down 1-95 North to Stuart. If you’re coming from Orlando, you can take Florida’s Turnpike South, which will eventually merge onto I-95 South.
How to get around Stuart Florida
Stuart is a pretty small town, so it’s relatively easy to get around, depending on where you’re staying. Stuart’s downtown area is very pedestrian-friendly, with many shops, restaurants, and attractions all within walking distance of each other. There are also bike rentals available here if you’re planning to venture into surrounding areas.
If you want to explore all of the amazing attractions and activities Stuart has to offer, OR you want to check out other things to do near Stuart, Florida, in surrounding towns, I always recommend renting a car. This will give you the freedom and flexibility to explore on your own schedule. You can compare the best rental car prices through Discover Cars here.
Additionally, the Stuart tram is available around Downtown Stuart and nearby neighborhoods. Click here for additional information and the tram routes available.
Best time to visit Stuart Florida
There is really no wrong time to visit, as the weather in Stuart is generally pleasant year-round! However, “winter” is technically high season, as the temperatures are milder in the 60s and 70s, allowing you to actually spend time outside without sweating to death (haha). Spring is my favorite season of the whole year, with slightly warmer temperatures BUT lower humidity.
Fall can sometimes be a good time to visit as the Stuart Florida weather starts to slightly cool down. However, Fall in Florida is so unpredictable! This is also when hurricane season is in full swing, so I would be cautious. Summer is usually off-season in Florida due to the heat and humidity, and it’s also the highest chance for rainfall, so I wouldn’t recommend visiting during this time.
